Interview: Matze Hielscher
From Indie-Pop-Band to One of Germany's Biggest Multimedia Entrepreneurs
A PASSION THING is a magazine dedicated to telling the stories of people from around the world who are driven by the wonderful force we call passion. We’re excited to take these conversations beyond the page and into the digital world, with Substack as our new home.
This interview appears in A PASSION THING Issue No. 01
How did you get to where you are today?
Matze Tough to say. I think there are two poles. One is that I always want to explore new things, be in the city to experience something new, read, know what is going on on the Internet, know what is going on with people, and so on. Two is that once I am interested in something, I want to do it, too. These are my two genes: I have the makers-gene and the curiosity-gene — I just came up with that terminology. That is how I started podcasting, Mit Vergnügen, the city magazine, and organizing parties. That’s also how I started a band way back when. I think I am where I am today because I love exploring what is cool and exciting, and then I feel like creating something myself.
